Dishwasher / Custodian

Knead Community Cafe is a non-profit Christian-based cafe with the mission to bring people 
from all walks of life together, serve them delicious meals and ultimately strengthen the 
community ties that bind us. We believe that food has the power to bring about many positive 
changes.

 

This is an hourly position approximately 26-30 hours/week. Hours are approximately
9am-3pm Tuesday-Friday, and Saturday 7am-1pm for breakfast service. Although primarily daytime, flexible 
hours are required to accommodate occasional special/fundraising and outreach events. This 
position will report directly to the Cafe General Manager and Chef/ Kitchen Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:
 

Dishwashing and sanitization (approx 65%) 

• Wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment by hand or using commercial dishwashing
  machines. Ensure that all items are thoroughly sanitized to meet health and safety
  standards. Properly organize and store cleaned dishes and utensils in designated areas. 
  Regularly clean and maintain dishwashing equipment to ensure optimal functionality. 
  Efficiently and safely wash all wares using the commercial dishwasher and/or by hand.

Custodial Duties (approx 35%) 

• Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors as scheduled or needed. Clean work areas including 
  restrooms, cafe, conference room, banquet hall and food prep/storage areas. Restock 
  supplies & assist with inventory as needed.

• Empty all trash receptacles, cardboard and kitchen oils and transport to dumpster area. 

• Maintain outside seasonal patio, courtyard and sidewalks. 

• Set up/ breakdown of banquet room as needed for special events. 

• Clean/maintain equipment and all environmental areas as designated by the Kitchen 
  and Cafe Manager. 

• Assist kitchen staff during service hours as needed.

• Other job-related duties as assigned. 

 

Skills/Qualifications:

• Responsible, good time management skills, attention to detail and able to work 
  independently as well as with team. Highly motivated, self starter, possesses a positive 
  attitude, and is a team player. Maintain open communication with staff to understand their 
  needs and prioritize tasks accordingly. 

• Ability to bend, stoop, lift items weighing up to 50 lbs., and endurance to stand for extended 
  periods of time. 

• Demonstrates flexibility and able to work at times in a fast paced setting, prioritizing team 
  needs and able to adapt to sudden changes in schedule. 

• 18+ age requirement with high school diploma or GED. 

• Must have reliable transportation to work. 

 

Pay rate commensurate with experience.
